Lee Junseok Criticizes Yoo Si-min for Remarks About Seol Nanyeong: "This Is Not a Simple Slip of the Tongue"

"Deep-rooted Contempt for Women Is Embedded"

Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform New Party, commented on May 30 regarding former Roh Moo Hyun Foundation director Yoo Si-min's remark that "she is out of her mind" about Seol Nanyeong, the wife of Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate. Lee stated, "Seeing someone attack an opponent on the public stage of a presidential election with elitism and language bordering on misogyny, I am once again compelled to ask what political dignity truly means."

On the morning of the same day, Lee wrote on Facebook, "This is not a simple slip of the tongue. It is a classist disparagement that defines an entire woman's life as an illusion constructed by her husband's existence, aiming to strip her of political legitimacy. Embedded in this is a deep-seated contempt and arrogance toward women."

Previously, Yoo Si-min appeared on the recently released YouTube show 'Kim Eo-jun's Dasboida' and made remarks about Seol Nanyeong, saying, "She is out of her mind thinking she can become First Lady, and she has lived arrogantly relying on her husband's academic background."

Lee stated, "Kim Keonhee or Lee Dongho, the son of Democratic Party candidate Lee Jaemyung, can be subject to criticism regarding their specific actions or suspicions. However, to judge and attack Seol Nanyeong's life, without any allegations of wrongdoing, solely based on her relationship with her husband or academic background, is merely an expression of Yoo Si-min's distorted view of women and class-based thinking."

He added, "It is even more disappointing that someone who served as the director of the Roh Moo Hyun Foundation ultimately failed to understand even a shred of Roh Moo Hyun's spirit. Even when President Roh was mocked for not having attended university, he overcame prejudice by entering a prestigious local vocational high school and passing the bar exam through self-study."

Lee emphasized, "His words and actions reveal the true face of an outdated progressive intellectual, full of hypocrisy and elitism, who should be left behind. I have been standing against such double standards and hypocrisy for years. To end this era of hypocrisy, I urge you to vote for Lee Junseok."
