From Jazz to Trot:
A Stage Filled with Passion by Young Musicians
On May 28, 2025, the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (Director: Lee Changhoon) held the 402nd Hope Concert in the hospital lobby, featuring a talent donation performance by the Yerub Band from Busan Yebit School.
Busan Yebit School is a commissioned arts high school where third-year students with aspirations in practical music and practical arts gather to receive education. The school is currently located at the site of the former Ilgwang Elementary School. The Yerub Band is composed of students majoring in music, playing a variety of instruments including vocals, guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and saxophone. Each member showcased their unique individuality and passion on stage.
During the performance, the Yerub Band played jazz pieces such as "Oneul Iya," "Ilsang," and "Isn't She Lovely," as well as popular songs like "Pierrotneun Uril Bogo Utji," "Geokjeongmarayo Geudae," "Sonyeo," and "Love Lee," which were enjoyed by audience members of all ages. Especially in the latter part of the concert, student Do Yumin, who appeared on the trot competition program "Burning Trotman," took the stage and further energized the atmosphere with lively trot songs such as "Boyakgateun Chingu" and "Sarange Twist," along with a saxophone performance.
The Yerub Band shared their heartfelt thoughts, saying, "We are very happy to start our first performance of the year at the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences. We hope our music provided a small comfort to those having a difficult and exhausting day."
One patient who attended the concert expressed gratitude, saying, "I have been going through a tough time due to treatment, but watching the students' bright and energetic performance allowed me to laugh freely for the first time in a while. It was an unforgettable and joyful experience that truly gave me great strength."
The Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences provides healing moments filled with culture and inspiration for patients, caregivers, and medical staff through the monthly Hope Concert. The institute also plans to continue organizing a variety of cultural events in collaboration with the local community in the future.
