Practicing Sharing for Mutual Growth with the Local Community
Soongsil University announced on May 29 that its campus volunteer group visited low-income elderly households in Dongjak-gu on May 17, in collaboration with the Sadang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and the Together Volunteer Team, to carry out activities aimed at improving residential environments.
This volunteer activity was part of a wallpapering and flooring installation program organized by the Sadang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center. The program was designed to enhance the quality of life for elderly residents in vulnerable housing conditions and to alleviate their financial burdens. Soongsil University forms a volunteer group every month to continuously participate in this program.
On this day, the volunteers contributed by newly wallpapering old and damaged walls, helping to create a more pleasant and safer living environment.
A Soongsil University staff member who participated in the volunteer work shared, "Being on-site made me realize once again how many people live in difficult circumstances. Although our help may be small, I am glad that it can be a source of support for someone."
A representative from the Soongsil University Social Contribution Center stated, "Soongsil University will continue to put into practice the university's philosophy of 'truth and service' through various activities that promote mutual growth with the local community."
Meanwhile, the Soongsil University volunteer group consists of university staff and the 'Haebit' student club from the Department of Architecture.
