The Daegu Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Shin Hongshik) announced on the 28th that Im Jinho, CEO of Mijin Bunsik 2·28 Branch, a renowned snack restaurant in Daegu, has joined as the 261st member of the Daegu Honor Society.
Mijin Bunsik, with nearly 48 years of history, is a beloved local restaurant in Daegu that has been run by three generations, starting from Im Jinho's maternal grandfather, then his parents, and now himself. After spending the past 10 years learning business management alongside his parents, Im Jinho decided to take over the family business. As his first act under his own name, he resolved to join the Honor Society, a club for major donors in Daegu who contribute more than 100 million won, known as the Daegu Fruit of Love.
Mijin Bunsik CEO Im Jinho, who scored 2.28 points, is holding a sign for a 100 million won donation in front of the restaurant and posing for a commemorative photo.
Born in 1996, Im Jinho’s decision to make such a large donation at a young age was greatly influenced by his parents. Since elementary school and continuing into adulthood, he has consistently participated in sharing and volunteer activities, such as preparing side dishes and cleaning at local welfare centers and jjokbangchon (shanty towns), together with his parents who ran the restaurant.
It was also recently revealed that his parents, Im Seokgi and Lee Jeongmi, joined the Daegu Honor Society as the 124th and 205th members in 2018 and 2022, respectively, and have continued to practice sharing through ongoing donations.
Im Jinho stated, "Watching my parents, I naturally thought this was something I should do. I have learned that I must give back the love I have received from the citizens of Daegu through sharing," and added, "I will continue to strive to maintain a steady commitment to sharing and volunteer work in the future."
Shin Hongshik, Chairman of the Daegu Community Chest of Korea, congratulated him, saying, "The two-generation family Honor Society membership achieved through Im Jinho’s joining is a very meaningful and significant event, as it combines the continuity of giving with the value of family. I hope the warm acts of kindness by the Mijin Bunsik 2·28 Branch family will spread positive influence not only in Daegu but throughout the country."
Currently, there are 32 family Honor Society members in Daegu, including couples, and with this new membership, the number of family (multi-generation) Honor Society members has reached 13.
