Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced on May 28 that it will operate a promotional booth for the Ungok Specialized Agricultural and Industrial Complex (hereinafter referred to as the industrial complex) for four days starting from May 29 at the 2025 Gwangju Food Expo, the largest food industry exhibition in the Honam region.

The 2025 Gwangju Food Expo will be held at the Gwangju Kimdaejung Convention Center, featuring 300 participating companies and 450 booths. The event is expected to attract around 20,000 visitors and will bring together manufacturers and sellers of agricultural and marine processed foods, as well as food and beverage-related companies, to secure distribution channels and conduct export consultations through direct interaction with consumers.

Until now, the county has participated in various food-related expos using mobile promotions, which made it difficult to provide detailed explanations. However, this time, the county plans to operate a dedicated promotional booth for four days, directly meeting with consumers and buyers to focus on marketing the industrial complex's land sales.

In this promotion, the county intends to highlight the logistical and transportation advantages of the industrial complex, which is located just two minutes from the Okgwa IC on the Honam Expressway. In particular, the county will emphasize that more than two million people, including those in Gwangju, live within a one-hour radius, making it easy to secure both sales channels for products manufactured in the industrial complex and a pool of young, highly skilled workers specialized in related manufacturing industries.

Additionally, the county will provide information on various incentives for tenant companies that sign an investment agreement with South Jeolla Province and meet the requirements of investing more than 2 billion KRW and employing at least 10 people on a regular basis. These incentives include: subsidies for up to 15% of facility investment costs (up to a maximum of 35%), site subsidies of up to 5 billion KRW, facility subsidies of up to 5 billion KRW, employment and training subsidies of up to 1 billion KRW, and worker welfare improvement subsidies of up to 300 million KRW.

The Ungok Specialized Agricultural and Industrial Complex is being developed on a 106,539-square-meter industrial site in Ungok-ri, Osan-myeon, Gokseong County. The project is currently 50% complete, with the goal of finishing in the first half of next year. Of the 25 lots being developed, 20 are designated for food manufacturing, 3 for electronic components and computer/communications equipment manufacturing, and 2 for electrical equipment manufacturing.

A county official stated, "Although early land sales in the industrial complex remain challenging due to the difficult domestic economic conditions, interest from the industry is steadily growing thanks to various activities such as newspaper advertisements, participation in food expos, distribution of promotional materials to relevant companies, and operating a promotional booth at the World Rose Festival. We will make every effort to promote land sales at the 2025 Gwangju Food Expo as well."
