The event, which began with Professor Lee Jeonggi from the Department of Advertising and Public Relations as host, was judged by Bae Byeonggu, a senior official at the Busan Audience Media Center, and Professor An Jiyeon from Dongmyung University’s Department of Advertising and Public Relations, ensuring fairness in the process.
During the planning and production of the public service advertisements, Bae Byeonggu and An Jiyeon participated as mentors, further enhancing the quality of the works.
The grand prize in the contest, which focused on the theme of human rights, was awarded to students Kim Ga-hye, Lee Yunseo, Shin Youngwon, Choi Jaeseok, and Lee Chaebin for their public service advertisement aimed at improving the rights of firefighters.
The first prize went to students Kim Juyeon, Seo Hanul, Kim Eunseo, Kim Donghyeon, Park Juhyeong, and Pham Tichang for their advertisement promoting the improvement of teachers’ rights. The excellence award was given to two teams: Byun Nahyeon, Lee Yun-geon, Kim Jongu, Kang Seoyun, and Lee Junseong for their advertisement aimed at preventing hate speech hidden behind anonymity; and Kim Yesol, An Hyeonwoo, Song Jihyeon, Ha Jiwon, and Yang Eunjun for their advertisement raising awareness about the dangers of physical child abuse.
The heads of the Busan Audience Media Center presented awards to these four teams.
The public service advertisements produced by students from the Department of Advertising and Public Relations at Dongmyung University will be made available to the public through the department’s official website.
This contest, which draws attention every year for its creative works, is part of the joint curriculum "Understanding Media Literacy" (first-year course, 3 credits, taught by Professor Lee Jeonggi), co-operated by the two institutions for the past seven years.
The outcomes of the class have been introduced multiple times through case presentations and academic papers, earning recognition as a model example of collaboration between academia and public institutions.
Professor Lee Jeonggi stated, "Through classes linked with the Busan Audience Media Center, students are developing diverse and critical perspectives on society," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the depth of collaboration between the university and the local community in our courses."
