The "Good Neighbor Award" is a prestigious honor presented directly by the Commander of U.S. Forces Korea to individuals, groups, and organizations who have devoted themselves to promoting mutual respect and understanding between Korea and the United States. The event has been hosted by the U.S. Forces Korea Command since 2003.
Yeoju City has continued ongoing exchange activities with U.S. Forces Korea by inviting soldiers and their families from the Eighth United States Army Command to major local festivals such as the "Yeoju Ceramic Festival" and the "Yeoju Ogoknaru Festival," providing various cultural experiences such as traditional pottery making and rural activities.
Through these efforts, Yeoju City was recognized for its contribution to promoting mutual understanding and friendly cooperation, leading to its selection as an award recipient.
Mayor Lee Chungwoo stated, "The active cooperation of the Yeoju Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation played a significant role in this award," and added, "We will continue our efforts to strengthen friendly cooperation between Korea and the United States through close collaboration in the future."
