Bitgwa Electronics Selected as Outstanding Partner by Samsung Electronics... Wins Excellence Award in Technology Innovation

Bitgwa Electronics, a company specializing in optical communication module manufacturing led by CEO Park Chanhee, announced on the 28th that it was selected as an outstanding partner and received the Excellence Award in the Technology Innovation category at Samsung Electronics' Win-Win Cooperation DAY.


The company explained that receiving the Excellence Award in the Technology Innovation category was a result of successfully commercializing its C-band Tunable SFP supporting 25Gb/s transmission speeds and being recognized for its superior performance compared to competitors.


The newly developed 25G C-band Tunable SFP is based on DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology, which is essential for optical communication networks. DWDM technology integrates C-band wavelengths at 100GHz intervals (up to 48 channels) into a single optical fiber, serving as a core technology that reduces network construction costs (Capex). This technology can be utilized in a variety of fields, including not only mobile networks but also mid-haul, back-haul, metro networks, and interconnections between data centers.


One of the key factors in this award was the achievement of low power consumption and the development of a compact package. The recent trend in the global optical communication market is shifting toward eco-friendly and low-power solutions. In line with this, Bitgwa Electronics succeeded in developing a product that consumes about 20% less power than domestic and international competitors, while maintaining a compact package in the standard SFP size.


Currently, the product is evaluated as a competitive low-power and compact package Tunable SFP both domestically and internationally. As a result, the company has achieved significant outcomes by reducing network operating costs (Opex) and meeting the power efficiency and space optimization standards required by 5G and 6G networks.


Through this development, Bitgwa Electronics applied various innovative technologies to support smart network operations. The company implemented a smart-tune method, an automatic wavelength tuning technology, so that during initial installation, the device automatically pairs with the installed MUX without the user needing to make any separate settings.


This enables labor cost savings and faster network construction compared to existing products. In addition, by incorporating Wavelength Locker technology, the product minimizes wavelength fluctuations caused by temperature changes during long-term operation, ensuring stable performance. In terms of transmission distance, this product offers extended transmission performance from the previous 10km to over 15km, and it has laid the groundwork for developing products capable of reaching up to 40km in the future.


A company representative stated, "This Tunable SFP has secured differentiated technological competitiveness in domestic and international markets by achieving low power consumption and supporting transmission distances of over 15km. Applying Tunable products to existing DWDM networks can significantly reduce installation, maintenance, and inventory costs compared to Fixed DWDM products, and we expect it will also contribute to increased sales through front-haul network applications." The representative added, "We will continue to accelerate our efforts to penetrate the global market by continuously developing low-power, high-performance optical communication modules."
