"Premium-Free, Scholarship-Supported" Korea Post Recruiting Applicants for Youth Dream Insurance

The Korea Post (hereafter referred to as Korea Post) is recruiting applicants for this year's "Post Office Youth Dream Insurance." Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, this insurance program serves as a support system for underprivileged youth by providing scholarships to help them prepare for the future.

On May 28, Korea Post announced that it is accepting applications for the 2025 Youth Dream Insurance program, targeting youth aged 12 to 15 who reside in residential facilities such as child care institutions and group homes.

This year, 510 participants will be selected. The insurance coverage period is five years, and Korea Post will cover the entire premium. Each participant will receive a total scholarship of 2.5 million KRW (500,000 KRW per year) over five years. Additionally, if the insured is hospitalized for more than three days (i.e., four days or more) due to illness or accident, they will receive a daily hospitalization allowance of 10,000 KRW, up to a maximum of 120 days.

Applications for enrollment can be submitted either through related organizations such as the Korea Association of Child Welfare, the Korea Association of Group Homes for Children and Youth, the National Center for the Rights of the Child, and the Foundation for Supporting North Korean Defectors, or individually.

Application documents must be sent by mail to the Post Office Public Foundation by June 30. Detailed information regarding the application process, schedule, and other specifics can be found on the Post Office Public Foundation website.

The Post Office Youth Dream Insurance began in 1995 as a scholarship support project utilizing interest from dormant insurance funds. As of last year, approximately 5,200 young people have benefited from this insurance, with total support funds amounting to 14 billion KRW.

Cho Haekeun, Director General of Korea Post, stated, "For the past 30 years, the Youth Dream Insurance has served as a reliable support for marginalized youth. Korea Post will continue to enhance the public value of post office insurance by supporting young people so they can pursue their dreams for the future, even in challenging circumstances."
