On May 28, Hampyeong County in Jeonnam announced that it will expand the designation of "clean livestock farms" to establish a sustainable livestock industry and promote environmentally friendly livestock farming.
On May 27, the county held a performance report meeting on the designation of clean livestock farms by town and township at the county office's comprehensive disaster situation room. A "clean livestock farm" refers to a farm that meets certain requirements set by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, such as compliance with livestock density standards, proper treatment of livestock manure, and harmony with the surrounding environment. The purpose is to supply residents with safe and high-quality livestock products and to provide a pleasant living environment.
This year, the county aims to newly designate 52 clean livestock farms. It is identifying eligible farms in each town and township and encouraging them to apply. As of the previous day, 19 farms have applied, achieving 37% of the target.
A county official stated, "We plan to continue promoting and providing guidance to livestock farmers in order to achieve the annual target," and added, "We will do our best to establish an environmentally friendly livestock industry without livestock odors."
