Seoul Metro to Recruit 150 Subway Safety Assistants

On-site Applications at Majang Station from July 4 to 11

Seoul Metro will recruit 150 "Subway Safety Assistants" in the second half of the year. These Safety Assistants will be responsible for maintaining order and patrolling major congested stations on the Seoul subway from July 21 to December 31, ensuring safety. This project, now in its third year since 2023, is a flagship initiative under Seoul City's "Companion with the Vulnerable" policy direction.

The recruitment is divided into two categories: "Congestion Safety Assistants (Morning)" and "Vulnerable Time Safety Assistants (Afternoon)," with 75 people selected for each category. Congestion Safety Assistants will work weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (4 hours and 30 minutes, including a 30-minute break) and will receive a monthly salary of 1,230,000 won (before tax). Vulnerable Time Safety Assistants will work from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (5 hours and 30 minutes, including a 30-minute break) and will receive a monthly salary of 1,473,000 won (before tax). The 2025 minimum hourly wage of 10,030 won will be applied.

Applicants must be Seoul residents aged 18 or older, unemployed or daily workers without regular income, and the combined assets of all household members listed on the resident registration must not exceed 499 million won. Detailed eligibility criteria, working conditions, and application forms can be found on the Seoul Metro website.

Applications will be accepted on-site only, from June 4 to June 11, weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., at the lecture room in front of the Customer Safety Office on the B2 floor of Majang Station on Line 5. Applicants must bring required documents such as a resident registration certificate, family relationship certificate, and job search registration confirmation. Only those who pass the document screening will be invited for interviews, and the final list of successful candidates will be announced on July 18. Successful candidates will undergo two days of job training before being assigned to the field starting July 21.

Baek Ho, President of Seoul Metro, stated, "Through the operation of the Subway Safety Assistants, we are fulfilling our social responsibility by providing jobs to vulnerable groups, while also making efforts to reduce safety accidents and congestion in subway stations. We hope for the active interest and participation of citizens."
