Gyeonggi Province to Provide 1.2 Million Won in Welfare Points to 10,000 Young People... Applications Open Until June 12

Gyeonggi Province will provide welfare points worth 1.2 million won per year to 10,000 young people working at small and medium-sized enterprises within the province.

On May 28, Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that it will recruit the first group of 10,000 participants for the "Youth Welfare Points" support program from June 1 to June 12, in order to improve the welfare of young workers and address the job mismatch at small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Youth Welfare Points program provides welfare points worth 1.2 million won per year to young people in Gyeonggi Province who have worked for at least six months and at least 36 hours per week at small and medium-sized enterprises, small business owners, or nonprofit organizations within the province.

Applicants must be between the ages of 19 and 39 and have a monthly salary of 3.59 million won or less. For those who have completed mandatory military service, the application age limit is extended by the length of their service, up to a maximum of three years.

This year, Gyeonggi Province plans to support a total of 20,000 young people, with 10,000 selected in the first round (June) and another 10,000 in the second round (August). The welfare points can be used to purchase a variety of products related to cultural activities, self-development, and health management at the dedicated online mall "Gyeonggi Youth Welfare Mall."

Applications can be submitted online through the "Youth Worker Support Program" website (youth.jobaba.net).

Required documents include a certificate of employment and a business registration certificate. If applicants use the public MyData service, documents such as the resident registration certificate, records of enrollment in the four major social insurances, and a certificate of health insurance premium payment will be automatically submitted with the applicant's consent.

Gyeonggi Province will select recipients in order of lowest monthly salary (as determined by health insurance premiums). In the event of a tie, factors such as length of employment and length of residence in Gyeonggi Province will be considered. The final list of selected participants will be announced on the website on July 9.

Gyeonggi Province will verify the eligibility of recipients every six months to ensure that their place of residence, workplace, and working hours remain unchanged from the time of application.

The Youth Welfare Points support program can be used in conjunction with national asset-building programs such as the Youth Tomorrow Savings Account and the Youth Worker Tomorrow Filling Deduction. However, recipients cannot receive support while participating in Gyeonggi Province's "Youth Worker Support Program for SMEs" or the "Youth Worker Savings Account" program. In addition, employees of public enterprises and public institutions are not eligible for support.
