'Daldal Shelter' in Dobong-gu Recognized as a Safe Delivery Platform Model

The 'Daldal Shelter,' operated by Dobong-gu in Seoul (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok), is receiving significant attention from delivery platform workers.

The 'Daldal Shelter' refers to a cafe where delivery platform workers can use rest areas such as restrooms and purchase beverages with vouchers provided by the district office.

Due to the nature of their work, delivery platform workers are constantly on the move and often struggle to find suitable places to rest, making the shelter highly popular among them.

Mr. A, who works in the Chang-dong area as a delivery worker, shared, "Just having a place to rest is reassuring," and added, "It's nice to be able to take a break and have a drink of water."

This year, the district plans to select four locations, taking into comprehensive consideration user feedback from last year, as well as the cafes' accessibility and convenience. Last year, the district operated four locations on a trial basis.

Eligible applicants are cafes located in Dobong-gu, with at least one year remaining on their lease or purchase agreement as of the announcement date. In addition, the cafe must have well-equipped rest areas and offer parking and point accumulation services.

The application deadline is June 2. Cafes wishing to apply should check the announcement on the Dobong-gu website and submit the application form and related documents either by email to the person in charge or in person at the Department of Regional Economy.

The district office plans to sign agreements with the selected cafes in mid-June and begin full-scale operations at the end of June.

Vouchers will be provided only to delivery platform workers who participate in the "Let's Create a Safe Delivery Culture Together!" campaign. The maximum amount per person is 50,000 KRW. The vouchers can be used at any Daldal Shelter location.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, "The Daldal Shelter is becoming a leading model for providing convenience to delivery platform workers. We will continue to do our best to support them so they can work in a safe and stable environment."

The district is pursuing various initiatives to improve the working conditions of delivery platform workers. Key initiatives include distributing safety equipment, reimbursing 50% of social insurance contributions, and providing labor consultation services such as legal, labor, and tax counseling in cooperation with the Dobong-gu Workers' Comprehensive Support Center.
