Jungnang Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi's Bold Move: Additional 10 Billion Won Issued, Total 22.5 Billion Won in Jungnang Sarang Gift Certificates

Jungnang District (District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi) will issue an additional 10 billion won worth of "Jungnang Sarang Gift Certificates" on two occasions: June 4 and July 23, both at 10:00 a.m.

With this additional issuance, the total cumulative amount of Jungnang Sarang Gift Certificates issued this year will reach 22.5 billion won.

This additional issuance is intended to alleviate the consumption burden on residents amid the prolonged economic downturn caused by high inflation and high interest rates. It is also aimed at supporting the recovery of sales for local small business owners and revitalizing neighborhood commercial districts.

The gift certificates will be sold at a 5% discount through the "Seoul Pay Plus" app, which is dedicated to Seoul local gift certificates. Each individual can purchase up to 500,000 won per month. Purchases can be made in units of 10,000 won, and including previously held certificates, individuals can hold up to 1.5 million won in total.

Additionally, the app's "Gift" function allows users to send gift certificates to family or acquaintances, or to receive them as gifts. Unused certificates can be fully canceled, and for certificates that have been used, if more than 60% of the purchase amount has been spent, the remaining balance (excluding the discount amount) can be refunded. The validity period is five years from the date of purchase.

The gift certificates can be used at over 8,200 affiliated stores in the district, including traditional markets, restaurants, and bakeries. The Seoul Pay Plus app allows users to easily search for participating stores.

The Jungnang Sarang Gift Certificate offers consumers a 5% discount benefit and up to a 30% income tax deduction, while small business owners are exempt from payment processing fees. This greatly contributes to creating a virtuous cycle of local consumption within the community.

Ryu Gyeonggi, Mayor of Jungnang District, stated, "I hope the issuance of the Jungnang Sarang Gift Certificate will help residents and small business owners who are struggling due to prolonged high inflation and economic stagnation," adding, "We will continue to develop and implement various policies to reduce the burden on residents and revitalize the local economy."
