On May 27, after the 21st presidential candidate debate held at MBC in Mapo-gu, Seoul, Lee spoke with reporters and assessed the current election situation in this way. He added, "I am determined to do my best, as if we are short by three votes."

Lee said, "I hope our citizens will think deeply about which choice will make Korea better," and warned, "There is a risk that forces behind past rebellions could return." He further emphasized, "Please remember that through the avatar of Kim Moonsoo, Yoon Sukyeol could make a spectacular comeback as a shadow ruler."

Lee stressed that if elected, he would "pursue the path of unity." He explained, "Politics is fundamentally a competition among people with different positions. Sometimes, people think of those with opposing views as adversaries to be eliminated, but the most extreme form of this is declaring martial law to sweep away the opposition."

He continued, "If I become president, I will strive to respect all citizens of Korea?whether they support me, oppose me, or are indifferent?provide equal opportunities, and move forward together."

Regarding the possibility of a unified candidacy between Kim Moonsoo of the People Power Party and Lee Junseok of the Reform New Party, Lee remarked, "I believe they will pursue unity among rebellion forces." He explained, "They seem to value personal and political interests over the interests of the national community and the people, so I think they will also seek to maximize their interests by uniting the forces behind past rebellions."
