Gwangjin-gu Office Employees Say, "Work Is More Enjoyable After Moving to the New Building" Employee Lounge

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyungho) has taken proactive steps to create a workplace where employees want to work.

The Gwangjin-gu Office has relocated to a new integrated government building at 400 Achasan-ro, adjacent to Exit 3 of Guui Station. The building, with a total floor area of 37,685 square meters and 18 stories, completed its move over the course of about a month starting on April 18. The transition from an old, deteriorating work environment to a pleasant new office has made the employees' commute noticeably lighter.

A staff lounge has been set up on the fifth floor of the integrated building. The approximately 66-square-meter lounge is equipped with three massage chairs and a coffee machine. With a collection of about 500 books, employees can recharge their minds and bodies after busy work or dealing with civil complaints.

A fitness center for employees is being created on the 18th floor. The facility will be equipped with 21 pieces of exercise equipment, including three types of cardio machines and ten types of weight training machines, encouraging staff to engage in physical activities.

Policies for junior employees also stand out. The district supports peer group gatherings for staff with less than five years of service. For cultural activities such as movies, plays, and exhibitions, each employee is provided with 30,000 won per event, up to two times. A public servant welfare fund has been established to ease the burden of large housing expenses. The district supports housing and financial stability for junior employees by subsidizing loan interest and offering low-interest loans.

The employee cafeteria is also popular. Located on the 18th floor with 254 seats, the cafeteria boasts a clean kitchen and a beautiful outside view. Lunches prepared by a professional nutritionist offer a well-balanced combination of taste, nutrition, and price, leading to high employee satisfaction.

One district office employee expressed satisfaction, saying, "These days, having lunch outside costs at least 10,000 won. I often use the cafeteria because I can enjoy both taste and nutrition at an affordable price."

Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "I am grateful to the employees who fulfilled their duties faithfully during the month-long relocation of the integrated government building without any disruption to district administration. We are making various efforts to create a Gwangjin-gu Office where people want to work," adding, "I will continue to communicate more with employees in the new office and do my best to make it an even better workplace."

Since the start of the 8th popularly elected administration, the district has been striving to improve organizational culture and employee welfare through new policies such as a special promotion system, allowances for key duties, special birthday leave, and flexible accommodation support.
