At the third presidential debate held on the 27th, Lee stated in his opening remarks, "Bullets are powerful, but they are weaker than votes," and urged, "I hope everyone will participate in this election, which is about restoring the sovereignty of the people and overcoming insurrection."

Lee explained, "The day the first debate was held was the same day 45 years ago when the 5·18 martial law troops entered Gwangju, and today marks the final day when the martial law troops made a surprise attack on the Jeonnam Provincial Office."

He continued, "In the early morning of that day, Dongho, a character from author Han Kang's novel 'Human Acts,' and the real-life figure Moon Jaehak, were shot and killed," adding, "Moon Jaehak, revived by the people, firmly suppressed this insurrection." Lee stressed that this presidential election should serve as an opportunity to overcome the 12·3 martial law.
