Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) operated 43 Munhwa Nuri Card partner stores at the site of the 15th Gokseong World Rose Festival, which was held over ten days from June 16 to 25, achieving both the goal of promoting cultural enjoyment for the culturally disadvantaged and revitalizing the local economy.
During this year's festival, the county supported the purchase of local specialty products such as Seokgok Nonghyup Baeksemi rice and Gokseong Livestock Cooperative Hanwoo beef and pork using the Munhwa Nuri Card. Munhwa Nuri Card users expressed their satisfaction with the festival by directly purchasing goods on site and participating in food experiences and other hands-on consumption activities.
Additionally, the county provided services to enhance payment convenience between users and partner stores by installing banners indicating Munhwa Nuri Card partner locations throughout the festival venue and deploying staff on site. As a result, the amount spent using the Munhwa Nuri Card during the festival period increased by 264% compared to the previous year.
An official from the county stated on May 27, "It was meaningful that Munhwa Nuri Card users were able to enjoy festival culture and have a positive impact on the local community through their spending," and added, "We plan to continue expanding opportunities for cultural enjoyment using the Munhwa Nuri Card in the future."
Meanwhile, the county is preparing to allow Munhwa Nuri Card usage at the 'Gokseong Simcheong Children's Grand Festival' scheduled to be held in October. In addition, the county will continue to provide active administrative support by expanding the number of partner stores and strengthening guidance, so that more residents can enjoy the festival and experience cultural welfare.
The Munhwa Nuri Card is a cultural welfare support program organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service. It provides 140,000 won per year to the culturally disadvantaged and can be used for cultural, travel, and sports activities at registered partner stores. Applications for this year are open until November 28 and can be submitted through the official website, app, or at nearby town or township offices.
