Portable Disinfection Sprayers and Steam Vacuum Cleaners Available from June to December
Gwangsan District in Gwangju announced on May 27 that it will operate a 'Free Self-Disinfection Equipment Rental Service' to prevent infectious diseases caused by mosquitoes, ticks, and other vectors.
In response to the increase in demand for disinfection among residents and the existence of blind spots where public disinfection is difficult, Gwangsan District will provide portable disinfection sprayers and steam vacuum cleaners for free rental.
For residents who need disinfection, the district will provide portable disinfection sprayers along with eco-friendly disinfectant (U-grade, single-use quantity). The equipment can be used after receiving a brief safety training.
Steam vacuum cleaners will be available for rental as either household or industrial equipment, but only for facilities vulnerable to infection, such as senior and child care centers, schools, and dormitories in industrial complexes.
Residents who wish to rent the equipment should contact the Gwangsan District Health Center to check availability, then visit the center with their ID. The rental period is three days, including holidays, and the program will be operated from June to December.
An official from the health center stated, "Although regular disinfection is being carried out, there are still blind spots in public facilities and homes," and added, "We will actively support residents' voluntary disinfection efforts through the free self-disinfection equipment rental service."
