[2025 MADEX] Naviworks Unveils AI-Based Virtual Battlefield

Showcasing Future Digital Battlefield Technologies at MADEX
Supporting Commanders' Decision-Making with METAIEYES

Naviworks, a domestic company possessing AI Geographic Information System (AGIS) technology, will showcase advanced technologies for realizing the future digital battlefield at the International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX).

[2025 MADEX] Naviworks Unveils AI-Based Virtual Battlefield

At this exhibition, Naviworks will mainly introduce its intelligent manned-unmanned integrated command and control platform, "METAIEYES," as well as its next-generation intelligent recognition virtual training platform, "VTB-X (Virtual Training Block-eXercise)."

First, METAIEYES applies core technologies such as AI, digital twin, GIS, and IoT to support situational assessment and commanders' decision-making through integrated surveillance and reconnaissance, as well as real-time information sharing. With flexible scalability and customizable design, this product can be used not only in military operations but also in various other fields. In addition, VTB-X provides integrated solutions for simulation based on global terrain data required for synthetic training environments, AI-based automated tactical training, and real-time training management. It features an open architecture and modular design, ensuring interoperability with other systems and supporting the creation of realistic training scenarios.

Furthermore, Naviworks will unveil "N-Edge Computing," a next-generation edge computing technology that collects and processes data close to its point of origin. This technology minimizes the risk of sensitive information leakage, thereby enhancing security and privacy, and improves system reliability and stability through real-time information processing without latency.

A Naviworks representative stated, "Through this exhibition, we aim to showcase the value of advanced defense technologies and present a vision for the future of intelligent manned-unmanned integrated command and control systems," adding, "We will continue to provide differentiated services to the Army, Navy, and Air Force, leading the paradigm shift in the future digital battlefield."

Naviworks has been engaged in weapon systems, combat systems, and C4I system projects based on the nation's first GIS (Geographic Information System) engine for 25 years. Industry experts expect the simulator market to expand significantly to maximize training effectiveness, especially as recent conflicts around the world have heightened demands for improved military combat capabilities.

Last year, Naviworks was awarded the contract to develop the Army Engineer School's K-1 Bridge Tank Simulator. The K-1 Bridge Tank is equipped with a scissor-type bridge assembly and bridge-laying device mounted on the chassis of a K-1 tank with its turret removed, and is deployed in engineer units of mechanized divisions and armored brigades. While it is not used for direct combat, it plays a pivotal role in achieving victory by enabling tanks and soldiers to overcome obstacles such as rivers, streams, and ditches by laying bridges.

According to Naviworks, the simulator currently under development consists of a driving trainer and instructor control device, and will closely replicate the characteristics of ground mobility and operation of the actual K-1 Bridge Tank. Trainees will experience all scenarios related to bridge tank driving and operation of bridge-laying equipment, including basic driving, course driving, on-road and off-road driving, and bridge deployment. The simulator also allows for real-time control of tactical situations, enabling both individual and coordinated training using different or identical scenarios in virtual training.

Meanwhile, the International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX) will open on May 28 at BEXCO in Busan. This year, over 200 defense companies and organizations from 14 countries will participate. The number of participating companies has increased by about 50 compared to the previous event, making it the largest ever. MADEX, which is co-hosted by the Navy, Marine Corps, and Korea International Trade Association, has been held biennially since 1998 and marks its 14th edition this year.
