Ben Griffin (USA) claimed the top spot using a diverse combination of clubs.

On May 25 (local time), at the Colonial Country Club (par 70) in Fort Worth, Texas, USA, he secured a one-stroke victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge on the PGA Tour, which had a total prize fund of $9.5 million. Just a month ago, Griffin celebrated his first career win at the Zurich Classic, a two-man team event, alongside Andrew Novak (USA). Now, only a month later, he has achieved the joy of winning an individual title.

After turning professional in 2018, Griffin spent some time playing on mini tours. In 2020, amid the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he suffered financial difficulties and quit golf to work as a loan officer. Hearing about his decision to give up on his dream of being a golfer, some of his clients collected money and gave it to him, enabling him to make another attempt at the PGA Tour. He played on the Korn Ferry (second-tier) Tour in 2022 and then joined the PGA Tour the following year. Within a month, he achieved a dramatic turnaround in his life by winning twice.

In this tournament, Griffin hit drives up to 361 yards, recorded a greens-in-regulation rate of 65.28%, and averaged 1.57 putts per hole when reaching the green. His combination of driver, irons, and putter worked well. Griffin carried five types of equipment in his caddie bag: a Ping driver, TaylorMade fairway wood, Mizuno irons, Scotty Cameron putter, and Maxfli golf balls, which led him to victory. Smiling brightly, he said, "There are so many people to thank. So many people have been on my side. I am truly blessed."
