Burung Announces Transition to 'AI Native Company'

Innovation in Data-Driven Operations... Over 20% Increase in Employee Productivity Expected
Strengthening Quantitative Analysis with Data Lakehouse Construction
Plans to Expand Company-Wide AI Utilization

On May 27, Burung, a delivery agency platform, announced its plan to become an 'AI Native' company, making artificial intelligence (AI) technology the core driving force behind its operations and services.

This declaration signifies a company-wide innovation that goes beyond simply adopting AI technology for certain tasks. Instead, it means placing AI at the center of everything from the planning stage to design and overall operations. Jang Subaek, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Burung, emphasized, "Sustainable growth is now only possible by moving beyond being digital native or cloud native to becoming AI native," adding, "Through this transition, we will further enhance our corporate competitiveness."

Burung regards data as the core foundation for AI-driven operations and is currently building a more advanced data lakehouse compared to its existing systems to systematically collect and utilize data. CTO Jang explained, "With the lakehouse, we will be able to analyze necessary data more quickly and quantitatively," and added, "This will make business opportunity analysis and decision-making much more convenient and accurate."

In addition, Burung plans to upgrade its system so that all employees can easily access the information they need through natural language-based generative AI (GenAI), without having to go through complex data access processes. The accumulated data will be widely used to improve services for both customers and riders, such as optimizing the machine learning-based dispatch system.

AI technology will be applied not only to service operations but also throughout the entire software development lifecycle. Burung aims to actively utilize generative AI in all stages of development?including product planning, market research, requirements organization, design, code writing and review, and test automation?to simultaneously improve development efficiency and quality. Furthermore, the company plans to introduce AI agents trained on internal documents to respond to frequent internal inquiries in departments such as HR, finance, IT, and data, enabling employees to receive faster and more accurate answers.

Through this AI native transformation, Burung expects to increase employee productivity by more than 20%, while establishing a company-wide culture of AI utilization and dramatically strengthening employees' AI capabilities. CTO Jang stated, "Within this year, we will firmly establish the foundation for the AI native transition, and from next year, we will achieve even faster and more efficient growth based on a highly advanced AI-driven work environment."
