Busan National University College of Pharmacy Alumni Association Donates 76 Million Won to the Nokhyang Scholarship Development Fund

The College of Pharmacy Alumni Association at Busan National University (President: Choi Jaewon) donated 76 million won as a development fund under the name of the "Nokhyang Scholarship" during its regular general meeting held at the Crystal Ballroom of Lotte Hotel Busan on the afternoon of May 24.

This donation served as an opportunity to reaffirm the alumni association's ongoing commitment to supporting student scholarships and academic research.

The "Nokhyang Scholarship" was established when the bereaved family of the late Kim Kiok (Class of 1964, Pharmacy) donated the entire condolence fund to the alma mater's scholarship fund, in gratitude for the scholarship Kim received as a student.

Since then, fellow alumni who resonated with the late Kim's noble intentions have voluntarily contributed, and the scholarship has evolved into a relay-style program in which students who received the scholarship during their studies return the favor by supporting their juniors after graduation.

The development fund donation ceremony was attended by key figures and members of the College of Pharmacy Alumni Association. During the event, Park Heejeong, president of the alumni association (Class of 1979, Pharmaceutical Sciences, CEO of Onnuri Hanbit Pharmacy), pledged 50 million won. Professor Moon Jeonok (Class of 1981, Pharmacy) and Byeon Jeongseok, president of the Busan Pharmaceutical Association (Class of 1992, Pharmacy), contributed 16 million won and 10 million won respectively, bringing the total donation to 76 million won.

The donors stated, "Alumni have united their intentions to nurture future talent in pharmacy," and added, "We will continue to support the Nokhyang Scholarship so that it can provide educational opportunities to even more juniors."

Approximately 200 alumni of the College of Pharmacy and about 50 guests, totaling around 250 participants, attended the general meeting, making it a meaningful occasion to strengthen unity among alumni and to enhance academic exchange and networking.

The alumni association commented, "This donation goes beyond simple financial support and serves as an opportunity to emphasize solidarity among alumni and social responsibility."

Choi Jaewon, president of Busan National University, stated, "The College of Pharmacy has long been a leading college contributing to the university's development. I would like to thank all members of the College of Pharmacy for their warm affection for their alma mater and their generous support. We will manage the fund transparently and responsibly so that the precious intentions of each and every donor can shine."

The College of Pharmacy Alumni Association at Busan National University continues to create scholarships and carry out support activities through its annual general meetings, and plans to further strengthen its role as an effective alumni organization contributing to the development of the university and the local community in the future.
