11 Artists Showcase Sculptures and Installation Artworks
Seocho District in Seoul, in collaboration with the Seocho Cultural Foundation, is hosting a public art exhibition titled 'Wonder Street' in front of the Picasso mural located on the public pedestrian walkway within the Goteo·Sebitseom Special Tourist Zone.
This exhibition, which will run through October this year, is an art project that adds a sense of 'Wonder' to the everyday space of the public pedestrian walkway, set against the backdrop of the Goteo·Sebitseom Special Tourist Zone. It is also part of the public sculpture project 'Gyeonsaeng Sculpture Exhibition' organized by Crown Haitai Confectionery. The project is particularly meaningful as it demonstrates how collaboration between the public and private sectors can transform ordinary spaces into venues for culture and the arts.
A total of 11 artists are participating in the exhibition, presenting a variety of sculptures and installation artworks. The project has been praised for revitalizing previously desolate idle spaces and upgrading them into a vibrant and sensory 'ART ROAD' by introducing new content.
Previously, in 2023, Seocho District held the sculpture exhibition 'Rhythm of Geometry' by artist Parki in the open plaza of the public pedestrian walkway in the Goteo·Sebitseom Special Tourist Zone. From May 4 to June 8 of this year, Seocho District is also operating a tourist participation program called 'K-Fashion & Beauty Coaching Station' in front of the Picasso mural, as part of a variety of programs to invigorate the Goteo·Sebitseom Special Tourist Zone.
Starting next month, an experiential program called 'Art Tour' guided by professional art guides will be launched. Participants will be able to appreciate the exhibition while touring major attractions in Seocho, such as Gotomall, Sebitseom, and Banpo Hangang Park. An English-language program for foreign visitors will also be available.
Seocho District Mayor Jeon Seongsoo stated, "This public art exhibition is not just an ordinary exhibition, but the starting point of a new cultural journey that adds art to the tourist route connecting the Express Bus Terminal and the Han River," adding, "We will continue to offer a variety of programs to provide enjoyable experiences for visitors to the Goteo·Sebitseom Special Tourist Zone."
