20m-Long, 17.5m-Wide Tunnel Fountain Opens at Starlight Naerincheon Waterfront Stage
Full Operation Begins on May 26... Open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Spring and Autumn, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Summer
Gwanak District (District Mayor Park Junhee) has successfully completed the improvement project for the riverside fountain near the Starlight Naerincheon waterfront stage and officially opened the facility on May 26.
Over 100 people attended the opening ceremony, including Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak District, the head of the Sinwon Market Merchants' Association, and local residents.
On this day, Mayor Park stated, "Starlight Naerincheon is being transformed into a healing cultural space where water, flowers, and light come together in all seasons. I hope everyone enjoys the rich summer night healing content prepared by Gwanak District, as well as the 'Seoul International Garden Expo' being held at the nearby Boramae Park and the local restaurant discount benefits."
The improvement project for the Starlight Naerincheon water feature began in February. The district invested a total project cost of 800 million won to enhance the monotonous design of the existing riverside fountain and address the lack of nighttime attractions.
The newly renovated water feature has been created in the form of a tunnel fountain, stretching 20 meters in length and 17.5 meters in width around the Starlight Naerincheon waterfront stage. The combination of various water streams produced by underwater pumps and valves, along with nighttime landscape lighting, provides residents with a visually engaging experience.
The Starlight Naerincheon tunnel fountain will operate in May, June, September, and October?spring and autumn months?from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., running for 40 minutes and pausing for 20 minutes in each cycle. In July and August, during the summer, it will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., running for 50 minutes and pausing for 10 minutes in each cycle.
The district expects that the tunnel fountain, with its refreshing streams and vibrant nighttime lighting, will provide a pleasant resting space for residents and become a popular summer destination that revitalizes the commercial area around Sillim Station.
Mayor Park Junhee said, "With the improvement of the Starlight Naerincheon water feature, the river landscape has become more beautiful, and we can now offer local residents a variety of leisure and relaxation spaces. We will continue to promote urban landscape improvement projects that residents can truly feel, bringing positive changes to the daily lives of our community."
