Opening the Future of Coexistence and Growth
in Gyeongnam, the Global Aerospace Capital
Gyeongsangnam-do, the global aerospace capital, and Sacheon City, the aerospace capital of South Korea, held a special academic conference to open a future of coexistence and growth as aerospace cities.
On May 27, it was announced that the "2025 International Space Industry Conference," jointly hosted by Gyeongsangnam-do, Sacheon City, and Jinju City and organized by the Korea Space Technology Promotion Association and Gyeongnam Technopark, was successfully held at the Grand Hyatt Seoul in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
Commemorating the first anniversary of the Korea Aerospace Administration and Space and Aviation Day (May 27), this conference brought together approximately 300 domestic and international stakeholders from industry, academia, research, and government related to the space industry to discuss the future of South Korea's space industry and explore avenues for global cooperation.
Additionally, under the theme "Gyeongnam, the Global Aerospace Capital, Opening the Future of Coexistence and Growth," the event featured a variety of sessions sharing domestic and international space industry policies and the latest technological trends, national space development plans, and innovative technology case studies.
In particular, representatives from major global institutions and companies such as NASA, TRE Altamira, AICRAFT, Gilmour Space Technologies, BAE Systems, the Indian Space Association, the Mexican Aerospace Industry Association, the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic, and the Innovation Agency of Lithuania participated to share their insights on the direction of global technological cooperation and industrial innovation.
Gyeongsangnam-do and Sacheon City once again demonstrated that they are key players leading the future of South Korea's space industry through this event, which was held with the support of various organizations including the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Aerospace Administration, and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute.
Key dignitaries and international speakers who attended the event agreed that "the space industry is entering a new era of advancement through global cooperation and technological innovation," and expressed their expectations that Gyeongnam will lead the future of South Korea's aerospace industry.
Mayor Park Dongsik stated, "This conference serves as a platform for communication and cooperation among industry, academia, research, and government, and is expected to become an important milestone in the development of South Korea's space industry and the strengthening of its global network," adding, "Sacheon City will take the lead in completing the space industry ecosystem through the creation of an aerospace complex city."
