Executives and Employees from 38 Member Companies Nationwide
"We Will Join Forces with Local Businesses"
The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry New Entrepreneurship Council (ERT) conducted a youth suicide prevention campaign together with 100 executives and employees from its member companies.
On the 26th, the New Entrepreneurship Council announced that it had sponsored the youth suicide prevention campaign "HamkkeGoWalk" and participated in the campaign with 100 executives and employees from its member companies. HamkkeGoWalk is a campaign aimed at raising awareness of the seriousness of youth suicide in Korea and promoting respect for life. It is co-hosted by Hanwha Life, Lifeline Korea, and the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), all of which are ERT member companies.
The campaign was joined by Park Iljun, Executive Vice Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jung Kiok, Vice Chairman of the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman of LSC Food), as well as representatives from regional chambers in Hwaseong, Ulsan, Seongnam, Samcheok, Daejeon, and Changwon. Executives and employees from 38 member companies, including Zigbang, Korea Seven, Nongshim, LSC Food, Elentec, and Himpel, also participated. From May 3 to May 25, participants walked 7.9 kilometers?representing the youth suicide rate of 7.9 per 100,000 youths?and posted proof of their participation on social networking services (SNS), delivering messages of support to young people.

An Sanggyo, Chairman of the Hwaseong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed his thoughts on participating, saying, "I am pleased to be part of a campaign that supports a healthy and hopeful future for our youth. I will continue to pay attention to various societal issues, including youth mental health, and work together with local businesses to provide support."
In particular, at the in-person event held on the 24th at Gwanggyo Lake Park in Suwon, Jung Kiok, Vice Chairman of the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Cho Youngjun, Secretary General of the New Entrepreneurship Council, attended in person. Together with 500 youths, they walked 7.9 kilometers, reflecting on the importance of respecting life and encouraging the young participants.
Vice Chairman Jung stated, "It is of utmost importance to create a society where young people, the future of our society, can grow up bright and healthy. Our companies will continue to pay attention and play an active role in this effort."
The New Entrepreneurship Council of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been carrying out various joint action projects to encourage executives and employees of member companies to engage with social issues. In the past, it has participated in campaigns such as plastic collection and marine cleanup (with Emart and Gapuljiwoo), and waste battery separation and collection (with LG Uplus and Barryone).
