Damyang County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Jeong Cheolwon) visited the Damyang Police Station (Chief Yang Sookeun) on the 26th to conduct on-site promotion aimed at raising awareness of the Hometown Love Donation Program.
During the promotion, the county explained the purpose of the program and how to donate to the police station staff, showcased representative thank-you gifts, and provided information about the fund’s projects to encourage interest.
At the site, about 40 police station staff members voluntarily participated in the donation, creating a warm atmosphere. The Damyang Police Station also agreed to set up a promotional space within the building to continue supporting the program’s publicity efforts.
Governor Jeong Cheolwon said, “I would like to thank the Damyang Police Station for their active cooperation,” and added, “I ask for your continued interest so that the Hometown Love Donation Program can become a system that fosters mutual growth with the local community.”
Chief Yang Sookeun stated, “Damyang Police Station will also make efforts to ensure the stable establishment of the Hometown Love Donation Program.”
Meanwhile, the Hometown Love Donation Program allows individuals to donate up to 20 million won per year to local governments (metropolitan or basic) outside their place of residence. Donations are fully tax-deductible up to 100,000 won, with a 16.5% tax deduction applied to amounts exceeding that. Thank-you gifts are provided within 30% of the donation amount. For example, donating 100,000 won to Damyang County entitles donors to a 100,000 won tax deduction, thank-you gifts worth 30,000 won, and free admission to public tourist sites for one year.
