SL Energy Aims to Become Leading Eco-Friendly Renewable Energy Company Through Business Normalization

SL Energy announced on May 26 that it aims to become a leading eco-friendly renewable energy company through business normalization.

SL Energy, which was spun off from Roa&Co in March, is a corporation that primarily produces industrial bunker C oil by vacuum distilling PFO (Pyrolysis Fuel Oil), a by-product of petrochemical companies' NCC (Naphtha Cracking Center) processes. This fuel is characterized by both high calorific value and low sulfur and carbon content, offering eco-friendliness and efficiency. It is mainly supplied to large domestic and international corporations.

Last year, SL Energy obtained a license to manufacture bio heavy oil, making it the only company in the industry capable of producing both petroleum-based and bio-based heavy oils derived from animal and plant sources. With this, the company has expanded its business domain beyond the existing industrial and power plant fuel oil markets into the eco-friendly renewable energy market.

Through the business division in March, SL Energy has focused its capabilities on the energy sector. The company has also prepared to enter the renewable energy market suitable for the era of ESG management and carbon neutrality by acquiring a bio heavy oil manufacturing license and ISCC PLUS certification last year. In particular, starting this year, the company expects to produce and supply bio heavy oil, which is anticipated to not only increase sales but also establish a stable profit structure for sustained growth.

A representative from SL Energy stated, "By specializing the energy business division and focusing our capabilities, we have secured competitiveness and strengthened our portfolio across the entire energy business. We will continue to expand our business areas through the independent development of eco-friendly energy sources, aiming to grow as a sustainable mid-sized energy specialist."

A company official added, "The PFO produced by our company uses by-products from petrochemical companies' NCC (Naphtha Cracking Center) as raw materials, which we vacuum distill to produce and sell B-C oil. By introducing eco-friendly raw materials such as pyrolysis oil from waste plastics, we are playing an important role in the future energy market by simultaneously addressing waste issues, producing high value-added fuels, and meeting global eco-friendly standards."
