The Field Global Capstone is a required course in the HBS curriculum. Toss participated in the program as one of the partner companies selected from 14 cities worldwide, working alongside approximately 900 HBS students.
From May 12 to 19, students enrolled in the MBA program at HBS visited Toss headquarters in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to carry out their research assignments.
The research topic focused on mobile usability among millennial and senior generations. Over the course of about two months, HBS students held preliminary meetings with the Toss team, developed initial hypotheses, and conducted user research. They refined their hypotheses through interviews with users in the United States, and in Seoul, they expanded their insights by conducting user tests and street interviews with actual Toss users.
They collaborated with Toss’s senior service product managers, user experience (UX) designers, and strategy managers to deepen their understanding of the service design philosophy and business context. Afterwards, they discussed ways to expand the senior user base and strengthen related channels.
The students shared analyses of similar cases from various countries and delivered final presentations, focusing on ideas that could be applied to Toss.
A Toss representative said, "We are pleased to collaborate with Harvard Business School and support students in gaining insights from real corporate environments," adding, "We hope they experienced learning that can only be gained in the field."
