"I Thought It Was a Plane Where Smoking Was Allowed"
"Flight Attendant Disliked Me From the Moment I Boarded"
Pop star Britney Spears (43) posted an online message criticizing a flight attendant after receiving a warning from authorities for smoking on board an aircraft.
According to People magazine and other U.S. media outlets on the 25th (local time), Spears was subject to a summary investigation by authorities for violating federal aviation regulations by smoking on a charter flight returning from Mexico to Los Angeles (LA) on the 22nd.
Authorities issued Spears a warning upon her arrival at the airport. The following day, Spears posted her own account of the incident on her social networking service (SNS).
Alongside a short video showing herself laughing and holding a bottle of alcohol on the plane, Spears wrote, "I was really funny yesterday. Most of the planes I've been on don't allow smoking, but this time was different."
She continued, "To confess, I drank vodka for the first time and really felt smarter. And I said I really wanted to smoke." She added, "My friend put it (the cigarette) in my mouth and lit it for me. So I thought it was a plane where you could smoke."
Spears said, "I apologize to anyone I may have harmed," but also stated, "The flight attendant reported to the authorities that I smoked. She embarrassed me to an excessive degree. She (the flight attendant) didn't like me from the moment I boarded the plane."
JSX, the operator of the charter flight, did not respond to requests for comment regarding the Spears incident. People magazine, citing sources, reported that this was not the first time Spears had received a warning from authorities due to an onboard disturbance.
