Growth Rate Compared to Average Fundraising Amount Over the Past Three Years
Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on May 26 that it was selected as an excellent city for "Hope 2025 Neighborly Love," organized by the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea, and received the Excellence Award.
The "Hope 2025 Neighborly Love" award ceremony, held at Hotel International in Changwon, was attended by Kang Gicheol, President of the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea, Park Myungkyun, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of South Gyeongsang Province, Choi Hakbeom, Chairman of the South Gyeongsang Provincial Council, as well as award recipients and approximately 150 other participants.
The Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea comprehensively evaluated six criteria, including the annual fundraising amount per capita and the growth rate compared to the average fundraising amount over the past three years, for 18 cities and counties in South Gyeongsang Province, and selected Sacheon City as the outstanding city in the public sector.
Sacheon City was recognized for its significant contribution to spreading the culture of neighborly love and sharing within the community through various welfare activities, including voluntary fundraising with local residents, support projects for low-income groups, and the establishment of public-private cooperation systems.
Despite difficult circumstances such as the economic downturn, Sacheon City achieved remarkable results by raising 709,172,146 won in donations during the "Hope 2025 Sharing Campaign" period, exceeding its fundraising goal by 203.89%, and winning the top or excellence award for three consecutive years.
On the same day, Park Cheolhyeon, an official in the Community Welfare Division of Sacheon City Hall, was honored with the Governor of South Gyeongsang Province Award, while Kang Hyeji, an official at Sacheon-eup Administrative Welfare Center, and Kwak Byeonghwan, Chairman of the Seonggu-dong Community Security Council (individual), each received the President of the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea Award.
Meanwhile, Sacheon City plans to continue expanding various projects to eliminate welfare blind spots and promote the practice of neighborly love.
Mayor Park Dongsik stated, "This award is thanks to the warm hearts and active participation of our citizens," adding, "We will do our utmost to make Sacheon a welfare city where everyone can be happy together."
