The Old Jeonnam Provincial Government Building Restoration Council, which consists of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Old Jeonnam Provincial Government Building Restoration Promotion Team, Gwangju Metropolitan City, and the Old Jeonnam Provincial Government Building Restoration Pan-Provincial Citizens’ Countermeasure Committee, will hold a public briefing session on exhibition content related to the restoration of the Old Jeonnam Provincial Government Building at 2:00 p.m. on May 28 at Jeonil Building 245 (9th floor multipurpose auditorium) in Gwangju.
The Old Jeonnam Provincial Government Building Restoration Council held two briefing sessions last year. At this session, the council plans to unveil the finalized exhibition content and some exhibition videos, which were confirmed after the completion of the detailed design in December last year, as well as the current status of the project and the future schedule. After the session, a Q&A session will be held with 5·18-related individuals and citizens in attendance to address various questions about the exhibition content and the progress of the project.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated that it will continue to communicate with 5·18-related individuals and citizens regarding the restoration of the Old Jeonnam Provincial Government Building. The ministry added that a public forum will be held next month to discuss the naming of the restored building and the determination of its operating body.
A policy official from the ministry said, "Through this public briefing session, we will disclose key information about the exhibition to resolve any questions, and we will do our utmost to achieve the goal of completing the restoration by the end of this year through thorough process management in the remaining period."
