Pledges 'National Interest-Centered' Pragmatic Diplomacy Based on South Korea-U.S. Alliance
Lee Jae Myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced that if elected president, he would establish an "Emergency Economic Response Task Force" led by the president to stimulate the economy. He also pledged to protect Korea's peace through pragmatic diplomacy based on the South Korea-U.S. alliance.

On the 25th, Lee held a press conference at the Democratic Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, where he declared, "We will swiftly prepare immediately actionable measures for the people's livelihood and economy, and actively respond to the domestic economic downturn with a determination to 'fight a decisive battle against the recession,'" pledging to form the Emergency Economic Response Task Force.
Lee stated, "Due to the prolonged economic downturn, both production and consumption are insufficient," and emphasized, "The government must step forward to implement effective economic stimulus measures." He added, "National finances will serve as a primer to restore a virtuous cycle in the economy and faithfully support the lives of the people."
He also remarked, "The catch-up economy, where simply following established models was enough, is no longer effective," and vowed, "We will move toward 'genuine growth' by fostering the power to create on our own."
Lee stressed, "As competition between nations intensifies, full-scale investment in cutting-edge industries and future technologies such as AI and deep tech is essential," and pledged, "We will proactively open the path to becoming an economic powerhouse." He added, "We will also steadily implement energy highway policies to respond to the energy transition."
Additionally, he promised to usher in the KOSPI 5000 era. Lee elaborated, "We will resolve the Korea Discount and establish a free and fair capital market."
He stated, "We will achieve genuine growth in which the capital region and local areas, small and medium-sized enterprises and large corporations, as well as the younger and middle-aged generations, all participate evenly and share the results together."
Lee also declared, "Peace is economy, and culture is economy," and pledged to build a strong nation of peace and culture. He said, "Based on a solid South Korea-U.S. alliance, we will broaden the horizons of Korean diplomacy with 'national interest-centered pragmatic diplomacy' and establish unwavering peace." He continued, "We will take the lead so that Korea, starting with world-leading K-content, can take the initiative in all fields globally."
Lee appealed, "Entrust the capable worker Lee Jae Myung, who has turned crises into opportunities and delivered results through action, not words."
