Gyeonggi Province Establishes Climate Response Hotline with Seoul Metropolitan Meteorological Administration

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government has established and officially launched a "disaster response hotline" in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Meteorological Administration to enable rapid response to hazardous weather conditions during the summer season.

This hotline was set up to establish a faster and more precise response system, as the frequency of hazardous weather events has increased due to the climate crisis.

The hotline is a dedicated one-to-one line between the Seoul Metropolitan Meteorological Administration and the Gyeonggi Provincial Disaster and Safety Situation Room, and was installed on May 22. When unexpected hazardous weather such as sudden localized heavy rainfall occurs, the two agencies can communicate immediately to minimize casualties and property damage.

When sudden hazardous weather occurs, the Seoul Metropolitan Meteorological Administration will use the hotline to notify Gyeonggi Province of emergency situations. If large-scale damage is expected, Gyeonggi Province will immediately request advice from weather forecasters to establish rapid response measures.

An official from Gyeonggi Province said, "By sharing information with the meteorological administration in real time, we will be able to respond to disasters more quickly and accurately," adding, "We expect this to play a significant role in protecting the lives and property of residents."
