Ten Co-Chairmen System Established
"Further Expanding the Integrated Election Committee"
People Power Party lawmaker Kyungtae Cho joined presidential candidate Moonsu Kim's campaign as a co-chairman on May 24.
The party's election committee announced this in a press release on the same day, emphasizing, "With this appointment, candidate Moonsu Kim will further expand the scope of the 'integrated election committee.'"
With this, the number of co-chairmen has reached ten, including lawmaker Cho, Ho Young Joo, Ki Hyun Kim, Seong Dong Kwon, Kyung Won Na, Cheol Soo Ahn, Yong Tae Kim, Woo Yeo Hwang, Hyang Ja Yang, and Jung Hyun Lee.
Lawmaker Ho Young Joo and lawmaker Cho are both serving their sixth term in the National Assembly, making them the most senior lawmakers in the party. Cho is considered a representative figure of the pro-Han Donghoon faction. In a recent media interview, Cho pointed out, "The key members of the election committee are close aides to former president Seokyeol Yoon," and added, "This raises doubts about whether this is truly Moonsu Kim's election committee."
Within the party, some interpret Cho's appointment as co-chairman as a form of indirect support from former party leader Donghoon Han, coming just ten days before the presidential election.
