Two people are in critical condition after a vehicle fell into a reservoir in Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters and Namhae Police Station, at around 12:13 p.m. on May 23, a passenger car fell into a four-sided dam in Seomyeon, Namhae-gun.
The vehicle crashed into the metal fence of the dam, then fell from a height of 1.7 meters and sank to a depth of 4 meters underwater.
As a result of the accident, two women in their 50s and 60s who were in the car were rescued in a state of cardiac arrest.
The two, who are sisters, were immediately transported to a hospital for treatment, but their condition remains critical.
A nearby resident, who rushed to the scene after hearing a loud bang, first rescued one of the women who had managed to get out of the car by tying a rope to his tractor after calling 119. The other woman was rescued by firefighters who arrived at the scene.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, including reviewing footage from the vehicle's black box.
