Choi Dajeong Wins Gold in Relay
Park Hyunjun Earns Bronze Medal
Daegu Yuga Elementary School (Principal Shin Yunseop) announced that students representing Daegu at the 54th National Youth Sports Festival, which held its athletics events as preliminary competitions at Gimhae Sports Complex in Gyeongnam from May 17 to 18, won a total of four gold medals and one bronze medal.
Among the five Daegu Yuga Elementary School students who participated as Daegu representatives, sixth grader Im Yeseo took first place in the girls’ 100m with a time of 12.78 seconds. Im Yeseo also won a gold medal in the girls’ 200m with a time of 26.44 seconds, and added another gold medal in the girls’ 400m relay with a time of 51.14 seconds, earning a total of three gold medals. She was also selected as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

In the girls’ 400m relay, Choi Dajeong won the gold medal together with Im Yeseo. In the boys’ division, Park Hyunjun won a bronze medal in the 400m relay. Fourth graders Kim Chaerin and Choi Daon competed in the 80m event.
Yuga Elementary School secures regular training times and spaces for student athletic activities and operates training programs in cooperation with professional coaches. The school also provides support for equipment and physical conditioning, as well as psychological stability programs.
This achievement was supported by the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education’s sports talent development program, the Dalseong District Office of Education’s support for training facility use, and budget support for competition participation.
Shin Yunseop, principal of Daegu Yuga Elementary School, stated, “I congratulate the students on their achievements and thank the teachers for their guidance,” adding, “We will continue to support our students so they can demonstrate their talents in various fields.”
