On the 23rd (local time), Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell stated, "The United States remains firmly committed to the defense of South Korea," and added, "We look forward to working with officials from the next South Korean administration to maintain and strengthen our ironclad alliance." He went on to say, "Reports that the Department of Defense will reduce US Forces Korea are not true."
