Held Until August 31
Hopes High for Revitalizing Local Alley Businesses
Seo-gu District in Gwangju will hold the "Our Neighborhood Alley Restaurant Stamp Challenge" for 100 days, from May 24 to August 31.
According to Seo-gu District on May 23, this challenge was planned by the Alley Restaurant Representatives Council in Seo-gu to support small alley restaurants competing with large franchises and to discover and promote hidden local eateries.
Anyone nationwide can participate in the challenge regardless of their place of residence. To join, participants must visit the designated alley restaurants in Seo-gu, dine there, and collect a stamp from each establishment in their stamp book to enter the challenge.
Stamp books are distributed free of charge at participating alley restaurants or nearby community welfare centers. The more stamps collected, the higher the chance of winning a prize, but only one stamp per restaurant is recognized.
After the challenge ends, the council will select a total of 47 winners through a draw: one first-place winner will receive a 1 million won prize, four second-place winners will each receive 100,000 won, twelve third-place winners will each receive 50,000 won, and thirty fourth-place winners will each receive a 20,000 won mobile gift certificate.
A representative from the Our Neighborhood Alley Restaurant Representatives Council said, "Merchants have voluntarily come together, combining their strength and wisdom, to revitalize the local alley economy. We hope this challenge will serve as an opportunity to breathe new life into the alley business district."
