The Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office and Geumpa Technical High School announced on May 23 that, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, they will conduct a volunteer activity visiting the families of independence patriots to replace old fluorescent lights with eco-friendly LED lights.

On May 22, Geumpa Technical High School held a launching ceremony for the "Bit Dream" youth veterans volunteer program, marking the start of the volunteer activities for the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day.

This volunteer activity involves students and faculty members from Geumpa Technical High School personally replacing outdated lighting in the homes of independence patriots' descendants with energy-saving LED lights and conducting safety inspections. The initiative is expected to contribute to improving residential environments, preventing electrical accidents and fires, and providing an opportunity to experience and appreciate the historical gratitude owed to these families.

Last year, Geumpa Technical High School signed a memorandum of understanding with the Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office to regularize youth veterans volunteer activities. This year, starting with the Bit Dream volunteer program, the school plans to carry out various volunteer activities for veterans' families.

Kim Seokki, Director of the Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office, stated, "Through talent donation activities in which young people directly participate, we hope to put the meaning of veterans affairs into practice and spread respect and gratitude for the descendants of independence patriots. Beginning with this launching ceremony, we will continue to carry out various veterans activities that reaffirm the significance of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day."
