Gwangju Dong-gu: "See You at Geumnamro Car-Free Street on the First Saturday"

Gwangju Dong-gu: "See You at Geumnamro Car-Free Street on the First Saturday" Geumnamro Car-Free Street Changed to Saturday Operation Poster.

On May 23, Gwangju Dong-gu District announced that starting next month, the "Geumnamro Car-Free Street," which has been held on the first Sunday of every month, will be changed to the first Saturday of each month. This change is intended to allow visitors to enjoy the programs at their leisure until later hours.

At the event scheduled for June 7, programs will be offered that families can enjoy together, such as "Mugunghwa Flower Has Bloomed" from the drama "Squid Game," so that family visitors can create special memories and communicate with one another. Families wishing to participate can register in advance either at the event's on-site booth or online. The game will be held in the "Noljaing" zone starting at 4:00 p.m.

From 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., a unique healing space with artificial turf and bean bags for relaxation, a variety of hands-on programs, bicycle education and maintenance, and air bounce activities will be available as regular programs.

To promote the "Daejabo (Public Transportation·Bicycle·Walking) City" policy, which aims to create people-centered urban spaces, the first 300 residents who participate by using public transportation, bicycles, or walking and provide proof, such as a photo verifying public transportation use, will receive a small commemorative gift on a first-come, first-served basis.

On the day of the event, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., vehicle traffic will be restricted on Geumnamro 1~3-ga. City buses passing through Geumnamro 1~3-ga will be rerouted from the National Asia Culture Center stop via the riverside to the Chungjang Police Substation section, and some will operate in the direction of Jeonnam Girls' High School. Further details can be found in the "Gwangju Bus Operation Information" notices and through the Gwangju Metropolitan City Bus Transport Association.

Im Taek, head of the district office, said, "I hope you will visit the Geumnamro Car-Free Street, which will be held on the first Saturday of every month starting in June, using public transportation, bicycles, or by walking, and enjoy it at your leisure."
