Sunchang County to Host Soft Tennis Junior National Team Selection Tournament

Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province announced on the 23rd that the "2025 Korea Soft Tennis Junior National Team Selection Tournament" will be held at the Sunchang County Public Stadium from the 27th to the 31st.

This selection tournament is hosted by the Korea Soft Tennis Association, organized by the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Soft Tennis Association, and sponsored by Sunchang County and Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province.

This event goes beyond a simple domestic selection tournament, serving as an important occasion for the official selection of junior national team members who will lead the future of Korean soft tennis.

Outstanding junior players from across the country will compete, and with qualification for the 2025 Asian Junior Soft Tennis Championships at stake, the competition is expected to be intense.

Additionally, this selection tournament will serve as a major evaluation criterion that not only determines athletes’ opportunities to compete internationally, but also significantly influences their prospects for joining professional teams and making career decisions. For junior players, it is expected to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a significant challenge.

Eligibility to participate is granted only to outstanding junior players who have achieved excellent results in prestigious domestic tournaments, such as the 46th President’s Cup National Soft Tennis Tournament. As a result, promising soft tennis talents from all over the country are expected to gather in Sunchang for fierce competition.

In particular, it is anticipated that about 200 participants, including athletes, parents, and coaches, will visit Sunchang for this tournament. This is expected to have a direct positive impact on the local economy, including lodging, dining, tourism, and local businesses.

County Mayor Choi Youngil said, "I hope the nation’s top junior athletes will fully demonstrate the skills they have honed in Sunchang," adding, "The county will continue to strengthen its position as the mecca of soft tennis."
