He has diversified Dongsung Chemical's business portfolio by expanding the application of polyurethane technology not only to chemical·automotive·packaging·construction materials but also to LNG carrier insulation materials produced by the subsidiary Dongsung FineTec, and to medical devices and skin improvement cosmetic materials of Genewel. The company explained that strategic decisions, such as establishing polyurethane production plants in Indonesia in 1994, China in 2002, and Vietnam in 2006, became the key drivers of the group's growth. Recently, the company has accelerated its global market expansion by building an additional polyurethane production plant in Indonesia.

Chairman Baek was also highly regarded for his commitment to social responsibility management through continuous mecena activities. Mecena refers to corporate support for the arts and culture sector. In 2021, he established the Busan Mecena Association, and since last year, he has been actively supporting the development of cultural talent by sponsoring promising classical musicians.
