Are you familiar with the 'e-Anshim House' project, an initiative aimed at improving energy efficiency?
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Gori Nuclear Headquarters is expanding its support programs to enhance the quality of life for energy-vulnerable groups living near the power plant.
Gori Nuclear Headquarters (headed by Lee Sangwook) announced on the 23rd that it held a completion ceremony for the 'e-Anshim House' at Seongwoo Happy Home in Gijang-gun, Busan, on the 22nd.
The 'e-Anshim House' project improves residential environments and reduces energy costs by providing high-efficiency equipment such as enhanced insulation, window and boiler replacements, and LED lighting installations. The project diagnoses the energy performance of vulnerable households in areas surrounding the power plant and installs customized equipment accordingly.
Since 2023, this project has been jointly promoted by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, the Korea Energy Foundation, and the Korea Institute of Energy Research. This year, the project budget was significantly increased to 2 billion won from 1.25 billion won last year, and the number of supported regions was expanded from 6 to 13.
The scope of support has also been extended to welfare facilities, with 66 households and 2 welfare facilities near the Gori Headquarters having received assistance so far. An analysis of the energy efficiency of the supported households showed that average energy costs were reduced by approximately 36%. It has also been analyzed that this results in a carbon reduction effect equivalent to planting about 249 trees per household annually.
Lee Sangwook, head of Gori Nuclear Headquarters, stated, "We will continue our energy efficiency projects to provide practical help to local residents struggling with energy issues," and added, "We will also encourage our staff to actively participate in events and communication efforts for regional development."
