"Realize a Daedong Society... This Election Is a Watershed Moment"
The Real Korea Gwangju Election Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea issued a memorial message on the 23rd to mark the 16th anniversary of the passing of former President Roh Moo-hyun, reaffirming their commitment to realizing "a world where people truly live."

In a statement released that day, the committee said, "The legacy of former President Roh Moo-hyun, who spoke of 'the organized power of awakened citizens,' remains alive today, and the spirit of the times that 'one can succeed without compromising with injustice' is still valid."
Regarding the former president, the committee recalled, "He was a true democrat who broke down authoritarianism, met the gaze of the people, trusted in the power of the people, and was not afraid of change. He did not back down even in the face of entrenched interests, and in the end, left us at the end of that lonely path."
The committee went on to say, "The upcoming 6·3 presidential election is a historic watershed for preserving the legacy and spirit of President Roh Moo-hyun," and argued, "We must stand against the greatest crisis of democracy: the runaway power of prosecutorial dictatorship, the revival of the entrenched interests cartel, and the ambitions for political dynasties."
The committee further emphasized, "This election is not simply about a change of government, but a decisive battle to dismantle the prosecutorial republic and cut off the resurgence of dictatorship at its roots. Only an overwhelming victory can change the distorted power structure and reclaim a world where people truly live."

Regarding candidate Lee Jae Myung, the committee assessed him as "the politician who most firmly carries on the spirit of President Roh Moo-hyun." They added, "In his politics that restrain the desires of the powerful and embrace the weak, his courage not to yield to entrenched interests, and his determination for a country where the people are the true owners, we see the legacy of Roh Moo-hyun."
The committee concluded its message by stating, "We will surely realize a Daedong society where everyone prospers together, and a true Korea, by carrying on the will of former President Roh Moo-hyun."
