Sobaeksan and Seocheon Dunchi
Experience the Peak of Spring
At the end of May, the 2025 Yeongju Sobaeksan Royal Azalea Festival, a signature spring event set against the backdrop of Sobaeksan Mountain covered in light pink azaleas, will take place from May 31 to June 1 at Sobaeksan and Seocheon Dunchi.
This festival, hosted by Yeongju City and organized by the Yeongju Culture and Tourism Foundation, is designed as a complex event connecting the mountain and downtown. A wide variety of programs have been prepared for hikers, local residents, and tourists to enjoy together.
At Seocheon Dunchi, the downtown venue, there will be experience zones, exhibitions, and photo zones for families and visitors. The "Sobaeksan and Azalea Photo Exhibition" will display works featuring Yeongju's beautiful landscapes, while children can participate in hands-on programs such as job experience, face painting, nail art, and rope play.
Participatory activities such as the "Azalea Graffiti Zone," where visitors can freely leave messages, and the "Azalea Photo Zone," where visitors can take photos against a backdrop of azalea flowers, will also attract attention.
A performance stage has been set up to enhance the festival atmosphere. Popular singer Cheeze and V.O.S will give celebratory performances, and a variety of events will take place over the two days, including a picnic concert, the traditional play "Dendongeomee Hwajeonnori," local artist busking, and interactive recreation programs.
Picnic zones and food zones will also be available for visitors to comfortably enjoy the performances.
For those visiting Sobaeksan, there will be SNS events, a safe hiking campaign, and traditional cultural events such as the Jugryeong Jangseungje and Jukjukje ceremonies. The Jugryeong Old Road walking experience will also offer opportunities to enjoy both healing and traditional culture.
