Death Caused by Foreign Object Lodged in Throat
Police to Investigate Possible Negligence and Other Circumstances
A 2-year-old child died after a foreign object became lodged in his throat at a daycare center in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, prompting a police investigation.
According to the Gimpo Police Station on May 22, at approximately 3:10 p.m. that day, a foreign object became stuck in the throat of a 2-year-old boy, identified as A, at a daycare center in Gimpo. As a result of the accident, A lost consciousness and received emergency treatment before being transported to the hospital by 119 paramedics, but ultimately passed away.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident based on statements from daycare staff, who said that A was eating a snack at the time of the incident. A police official stated, "We are analyzing the on-site CCTV footage," and added, "We plan to investigate the details of the incident, including whether there was any negligence."
