Professor Seo Says "Sent a Protest Email" on Facebook
"Incorrect Notations Overseas Must Be Corrected"
Professor Seo Kyungduk of Sungshin Women's University stated that he sent a protest email after discovering that the pronunciations of 'Balhae' and 'Sangkyung' were written in the Chinese style at the Osaka Museum of History in Japan, where the World Expo is being held.
Through social networking services (SNS), Professor Seo explained, "At the entrance of the museum, major cities of neighboring countries during ancient Osaka are introduced together, but 'Balhae Sangkyung' is incorrectly written as 'Bohai Shanging'."
He added that 'Silla Gyeongju' is correctly written as 'Silla Gyeongju'.
In his protest email, Professor Seo stated that the correct English (pronunciation) notation for 'Balhae Sangkyung' is 'Balhae Sangkyung'. He urged, "Since it is important to provide accurate history to visitors, I hope this will be corrected as soon as possible."

He emphasized, "China's Northeast Project continues, such as claiming that Goguryeo and Balhae are part of Chinese history. In this situation, incorrect notations overseas can potentially provide justification for such claims, so it is essential to correct them."
