Public sewage systems are key water management infrastructure for improving the health and living environment of local residents. The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office is investing 678.1 billion won this year to expand these facilities.

The sewage budget has been increasing annually, from 346.9 billion won in 2023 to 485.9 billion won in 2024. Through this, the office plans to guide agencies in securing the qualifications and expertise necessary for proper management of related facilities and equipment.

The inspection targets include 11 local governments such as Gwangju Metropolitan City and Naju in South Jeolla Province, as well as Hadong County in South Gyeongsang Province and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The office will also check the operation of advanced equipment such as pipeline closed-circuit television (CCTV), and plans to share best practices with other agencies to encourage capacity building.

Kim Youngwoo, head of the office, stated, "We will ensure that agencies with expertise and a strong sense of responsibility provide high-quality services so that essential sewage facilities for daily life can be operated stably."
